Then that instant worry kicks in, you’re not going to be home for hours still to charge it up. Vinson Leow was well aware of this common first world problem, and he decided to do something about it.

It’s called the ASAP Dash, and his crowdfunding campaign has already raised over $208,012 AUD, which is 525% over his original goal… with a month still left in the campaign.
We had a chat with Vinson about the journey to make this campaign a reality, and what advice he has for others who are looking to do the same.
What is your company’s mission?
Our mission is to create a suite of essential technology products that will be seamlessly integrated into our everyday lives.
Your video on your crowdfunding campaign has been so well received. What was the process like for getting it produced?
It was very tiring! I flew one of the video crew over to China with me and we stayed in a 2 bedroom, I got no sleep as he was a loud snorer! The video was revised over 20 times including a complete change in voiceover, as we couldn’t reach the original voice over person.
What was the process for you to get the product ready to launch?
We flew to China to find ourselves a world class manufacturer, we studied battery types, circuit boards, and international testing requirements to understand what limits today’s chargers. After 14 months, 2 weeks and 3 days working closely with their engineering team, we were able to finally shake hands on a revolutionary product.
How many attempts/tests did you have to go through to get to the final product?
We tested the products for over 6 months before we applied for international certifications. We spent well over 10,000 hours from prototyping to the final product. We’re still working on developing the technology further and increasing the charge time once we hit our stretch goal.
What advice would you give to others running crowdfunding campaigns? What kind of marketing did you use to reach your goal so quickly?
You should take 90% of what you read regarding crowdfunding with a grain of salt. Nearly everything you read regarding how to successfully crowd fund has no hard evidence and is based entirely on assumptions. The majority of successful campaigns were not even aware of how or why they were truly successful.
Crowdfunding success comes down to one simple formula:
Total Funds = Page traffic x Conversion rate
Everything you do either directly increases traffic to a page or increases conversion rate. Most campaigns make the mistake of trying to get 101 things correct that might increase conversion rate 0.1% and are not nearly as effective as simply driving more traffic to the page.
